https://publicationethics.org/files/International

Authorship Criteria

Every author listed in the submitted article must have fulfilled at least one or more of the following criteria:

Conception and design of the research, collection, analysis, or interpretation of data

Drafting the article or making substantial and critical revisions;

Final approval for publication of the article.

Generally, they must have a significant contribution to the conception and writing of the article to accept overall responsibility for appropriate sections of the content.

Responsibilities and Commitments of Authors

Adherence to the fundamental principles of writing and research in article writing is essential, and articles must be written and formatted according to the journal's guidelines.

Before submitting an article, all authors must read the author guidelines and the terms and conditions for submission in this journal.

The corresponding author must confirm and submit the consent and awareness of the other authors regarding the article through the authors' commitment form.

All authors listed in the article and on the commitment form must have made a significant contribution to the writing and preparation of the article.

Acknowledgments and organizational affiliations of the authors must be mentioned in the article, and any conflicts of interest between authors or organizations must be disclosed

To sustain and develop the peer review process, qualified authors are invited to participate in the review process of other articles in this journal.

Authors must clearly report the research sponsor (if any).

Authors are obligated to promptly inform the editor if they notice any errors or inaccuracies in their published article, so that the article can be corrected or retracted

All authors should be aware that articles submitted to this journal are checked for scientific misconduct using similarity detection software

Authors must properly and appropriately cite all sources and references that they have used directly or indirectly.

At the time of submission, during the review process, and in preparation for publication, the corresponding author is responsible for communication with the journal and its staff. They must ensure compliance with all administrative requirements of the journal, such as adherence to submission conditions, addressing the reviewers' comments, documenting clinical trial registrations, and providing necessary forms such as the commitment form and conflict of interest statements. Additionally, during the review process, the corresponding author must promptly respond to questions from the editor and executive manager and cooperate with the journal after publication if necessary.

Changes in Author Information

After the acceptance of the article and at the publication stage, adding a new author or changing the responsibilities of authors is not permitted. Furthermore, if an author wishes to be removed from the list of authors, they must submit a letter signed by the author and other authors indicating their desire to be removed from the authorship list.

Any change in the order of authors requires a letter signed by all authors indicating their agreement.

Principles of Transparency

Originality

An article submitted by an author to journals must be new and original. An author cannot submit an article that is being reviewed in whole or in part elsewhere, nor can they submit an article that has been reviewed and evaluated in whole or in part to another journal.

The submitted article, whether in whole or in part, in Persian or any other language, must not have been published elsewhere or accepted for publication.

Authors must clearly present their work and original ideas, even when not objectively rewritten or quoted in the article. If an author uses exact sentences and phrases from other scientific works in their article, these must be placed within "quotation marks."

The article must specify the source and originality of each dataset used. If proprietary datasets have been used elsewhere by this author or another author, the article must disclose these other works, whether published or unpublished.

Authors should not submit an article that has previously been submitted to this journal, evaluated, and rejected by the editor. If the initial version was previously rejected and the author wishes to submit a revised version of the article for evaluation, the justification for resubmitting the article must be clearly presented by the author to the journal's editor.

Plagiarism

The registration of an article in the Islamic Heritage and Contemporary Challenges journal management system will be communicated to all authors of the article via email. It is evident that the inclusion of authors' names in the article signifies their essential role in its preparation. If the authors of the article did not contribute to its preparation and their names have been misused, they must immediately inform the journal through the received email. All authors of the article are responsible for the originality of the work. The journal reserves the right to evaluate cases of plagiarism. Plagiarism can take various forms, including: Submitting another article under one's own name. Listing the names of authors and researchers who did not contribute to the article. Copying or repeating significant portions of another article (even if the copied article belongs to one of the authors of the new article). Presenting the results of others' research as one's own. Repeatedly publishing the same article by a single author in multiple journals. Presenting incorrect results contrary to scientific findings or distorting the results of research. Using invalid data or manipulating research data.

Cases of plagiarism will be examined by the journal's officials, and in order to maintain the integrity and efforts of other researchers, legal action will be taken without any leniency or tolerance based on the extent of the plagiarism.

Conflict of Interest

The corresponding author must disclose the sources of financial support for the project in the article text before submitting the article. Any stated interests must be published alongside the article. If there is any doubt regarding the type of situation that represents a conflict, it must be clearly identified. Any matter related to conflicts of interest should be raised with the editorial office or the editor.

Examples of conflicts of interest may be personal, commercial, political, academic, or financial. "Financial" interests may include employment, funding for research, ownership of stocks or shares, payment for speaking or travel, consulting, and support from companies for staff.

When submitting an article to the journal, the corresponding author has the opportunity to suggest potential reviewers for the article. Authors should avoid any potential conflicts of interest or their manifestation in the selection of editors and reviewers. This type of conflict of interest applies not only to the corresponding author but also to co-authors of the article.

In this journal, submitting a conflict of interest form is mandatory, and authors must disclose any conflicts of interest between authors or organizations in the conflict of interest form.

Peer Review Process

The journal employs a double-blind peer review method for evaluating articles, whereby authors do not know the reviewers, and vice versa. Authors must respect the confidentiality of the evaluation process and not disclose their identity to the reviewers, and vice versa. For example, the article should not contain any self-identifying information that would allow the reviewer to identify the author.

Authors have the right to contact the editor if they do not wish for their article to be reviewed by a specific reviewer due to potential conflicts of interest.

Accuracy

The authors are ultimately responsible for the content of all articles submitted to the journal. Authors are committed to providing an accurate representation of the research conducted and an objective discussion regarding the significance of the research.

Authors must report their findings comprehensively and should not omit data that is relevant to the text or the structure of the research questions. Results should be reported regardless of whether they support or contradict the expected outcomes. Authors should exercise special care in presenting properties or characteristics related to their research or findings and their interpretation. Fundamental assumptions, theories, methods, indicators, and research designs related to their findings and interpretations must be clearly stated.

Authors must commit to ensuring that there is no "data fabrication" or "data manipulation" in the presentation of data.

The article must contain sufficient details and sources so that other researchers can access the same dataset to replicate the research.

If an author discovers a significant mistake or inaccuracy in their work, they are obligated to promptly inform the journal's editor and cooperate in reviewing or correcting the article. If the author or publisher is informed by a third party that the published work contains a significant and serious error, the author is committed to promptly reviewing or correcting the article or providing evidence to the editor regarding the accuracy and correctness of the original or initial article.

Publication Schedule

Islamic Heritage and Contemporary Challenges is published biannually, releasing 2 issues per year. All published articles will be available on the dedicated website of the journal.

Privacy and Confidentiality

Confidentiality must be maintained throughout all processes of article review and by all roles involved.

All articles must be reviewed with confidentiality. Reviewers also have rights to confidentiality that the editor must respect. If there is suspicion of dishonesty or fraud in the article, confidentiality may be breached; otherwise, it must be upheld.

In addition to authors and reviewers, editors are prohibited from disclosing information related to articles (including receipt, content, status in the review process, reviewer comments, or final outcome).

Editors must explain to reviewers that the articles submitted for review are the private property of the authors, and reviewers and editorial staff must respect the authors' rights by refraining from public discussion or appropriation of the authors' works before the article is published.

Reviewers are not permitted to make copies of the article for themselves and are not allowed to share it with others unless permitted by the editor or the editorial board.

Furthermore, without the permission of the reviewer, author, and editor, review and editorial comments should not be publicly disclosed.

Corrections or Retractions of Articles

To maintain the integrity of scientific and academic records, the journal may occasionally be compelled to publish a correction or retract a published article. According to the norms agreed upon by the academic community, this is typically done by issuing a "correction" or "retraction" without altering the original article, and only by publishing a new article that highlights the correction or retraction. The original article remains in the public domain and is usually indexed in a subsequent Erratum or Retraction. In exceptional cases where the content of the article cannot be corrected, we may have to remove the content from our website and archive sites. The original author(s) may need to make minor amendments to the published articles by commenting on the published article. This will only be acceptable if the amendments do not affect the results or conclusions of the article.

Correction

Changes in published articles that affect the meaning and results of the article but do not invalidate the entire article may be corrected at the discretion of the editor or editors by publishing an Erratum (correction) that is indexed and related to the original article. Changes in authorship of published articles are corrected through Erratum.

Retraction

If scientific information in an article is significantly compromised, it may be appropriate to retract published articles in rare cases. In such instances, the journal's decisions must comply with the COPE retraction guidelines. Retractions will be indexed and referenced to the original article.

The process of identifying and addressing allegations of research misconduct in the Islamic Heritage and Contemporary Challenges journal (see examples of research misconduct) involves the editor taking steps to identify and prevent the publication of articles in which research misconduct has occurred.

These steps include:

The first action of the journal's editor is to inform the editorial office by providing copies of the relevant materials and a draft letter to the corresponding author requesting an explanation without judgment.

If the author's explanation is unacceptable and it appears that serious unethical behavior has occurred, the matter will be referred to the publication committee through the editorial office. After review, the committee will decide whether the case is serious enough to warrant a ban on future submissions.

If the misconduct is of a lesser severity, the editor, upon the recommendation of the publication committee, will send a reprimanding letter to the author and remind them of the journal's publication policies. If the article has been published, the editor may request the author to publish an apology in the journal to correct the record.

A warning will be sent to the corresponding author, and any work by the responsible author that is under review by the journal will be immediately rejected.

Authors will be prohibited from serving on the editorial board of the journal and from acting as reviewers for the journal. The journal reserves the right to take further actions.

In cases of serious fraud that lead to the retraction of an article, a retraction notice will be published in the journal and linked to the article online. The online version will also be marked with the date of retraction.

Process for Handling Author Complaints in the Islamic Heritage and Contemporary Challenges Journal

The editor and editorial team of the Islamic Heritage and Contemporary Challenges journal welcome reasonable and well-founded appeals against the decisions of the editor and editorial board, but it should be noted that these requests must be supported by strong evidence and reasoning. Authors wishing to appeal must provide strong evidence or new data/information in response to the comments of the editor and reviewers. The journal always strives to ensure that all final decisions are based on the thorough opinions of the reviewers and editors, so the editors of the journal rarely change their original decisions. However, if you have a complaint about the journal's final decision and believe there is a case for reconsideration, you can follow these steps:

You need to present your logical, well-founded, and acceptable reasons to the journal office.

Clearly explain in your request why you disagree with this decision.

Provide any new information or data you wish to be considered in the review process to the journal editors.

If you believe that the reviewers made a mistake in evaluating your article, provide acceptable reasons and documentation.

If you think there was a conflict of interest in the review process, provide your evidence.

Potential Research Misconduct

All instances presented in this section are considered examples of research misconduct and will be addressed by the Islamic Heritage and Contemporary Challenges journal.

Data Fabrication and Falsification

Data fabrication means that a researcher has conducted the experiment but has manipulated, altered, or omitted data or results and findings of the research.

Duplicate Publication

Duplicate publication occurs when two or more articles share essentially the same hypotheses, data, discussion points, and conclusions without complete cross-referencing.

Citation Fraud and Manipulation

Excessive citations in a submitted manuscript that do not contribute to the scientific content of the article and are merely included to inflate the citation count of a particular author's work or articles published in a specific journal are referred to as citation fraud and manipulation. This is a form of scientific misconduct as it misrepresents the significance of the work and the article in which it appears.

Simultaneous Submission

Simultaneous submission occurs when a manuscript (or significant portions of a manuscript) is submitted to a journal that is already under review by another journal.

Redundant Publication

Redundant publication involves improperly splitting study results into multiple articles, often as a result of a desire to enhance one's academic resume.

Inappropriate Author Contribution or Attribution

All listed authors must have made a significant scientific contribution to the research presented in the manuscript and must have endorsed all claims made therein. The roles of all individuals who have made significant scientific contributions to the preparation and writing of the article, including students and laboratory technicians, should be acknowledged.

Plagiarism

Plagiarism is the intentional use of others' ideas or other original material in such a way that it appears to be one's own. Copying even a single sentence from someone else's manuscript or even one of your own that has been previously published, without proper citation, is considered academic theft by this journal.

Plagiarism is a serious violation of publication ethics, and all articles under review or published are checked using plagiarism prevention software such as Similarity Check. Authors are expected to check their manuscripts for plagiarism before submission. If plagiarism is detected during the review process, the manuscript will be rejected.

In the event that plagiarism is identified after publication, we (the journal) reserve the right to amend or retract the article if necessary. We also reserve the right to inform the institutions of the authors regarding plagiarism that has been revealed before or after publication.

Article Structure

Important Points for Structuring Different Sections of the Article

Article Title:

The title should be concise and relevant to the content of the article. (Font: Persian (B Titr), Size: 14)

Abstract:

The Persian and English abstracts should be a maximum of 250 words and must provide a concise representation of the article, structured into sections: Objective, Method (Sample and Tools), Findings, and Conclusion.

The extended English abstract should be a maximum of 1000 words and formatted according to the extended abstract guidelines.

Keywords:

Important Persian keywords should be listed at the beginning of the article after the abstract, with a minimum of 3 and a maximum of 5 words in order of importance. Their English equivalents should also be listed below the English abstract in the same order.

Images and Tables:

Images, tables, and maps should be placed in the text of the article as close as possible to the first reference point.

Conflict of Interest:

Authors must explicitly state any potential conflicts of interest, such as receiving payment for the article or obtaining equity or shares in an organization that may be gained or lost through the publication of the article. If there are no conflicts of interest, the following sentence should be added at the end of the article: "No conflicts of interest have been declared by the authors."

Acknowledgments:

In this section, all individuals who have contributed to the study but are not authors of the article should be acknowledged. Individuals who have played a role in writing the article, methods, and overall support should be thanked here. It is also essential to mention the names of supporting or funding organizations for the research in this section.

Citation Method:

All sources used in the article must be listed at the end in English and formatted according to APA style. Please pay attention to the following points when formatting references:

  1. a) In-text citations should all be in English and preferably placed at the end of the sentence. The publication year of Persian sources should be written in the corresponding Gregorian year.
  2. b) References at the end of the text should all be written in English. It is emphasized that if some sources are in Persian, all information such as author names, article titles, and journal names should be translated into English, and the corresponding dates should be converted to Gregorian, with the phrase [In Persian] added at the end. Personal translations of Persian source titles are strictly prohibited; the English equivalents should be sourced from the original site.
  3. c) References in the text should be provided in English and preferably at the end of the sentence in parentheses, such as (Wilson, 1993) or (Wilson et al., 1993), and if necessary, at the beginning of the sentence.
  4. d) Cited sources in the article must be accessible to readers and should be in the form of books, scientific journals, or theses. Non-accessible sources and non-scientific materials such as lecture notes or handouts should not be used.
  5. e) The reference list should be arranged in alphabetical order. For sources that have an English version (title and abstract), the translation should be used, and for sources without an English version (such as Persian books), the Roman script format should be used.

For information on how to cite sources in this manner, please refer to the APA Citation Guide (7th edition).

Formatting Notes and Considerations for the Article's Appearance

The abstract text should have a margin of 4.5 cm from the edge of the page, and the main text of the article should have a margin of 2.5 cm from the edge of the page.
